Michelangelo Galliani (Montecchio Emilia, 1975) is a sculptor who masterfully combines tradition and innovation, transforming marble into works that merge expressive delicacy with extraordinary technical precision. After studying at the Paolo Toschi Art Institute in Parma and the Palazzo Spinelli Institute in Florence, he graduated in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara. He is currently a professor of Marble and Hard Stone Techniques at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino. His sculptures are distinguished by the meticulous craftsmanship with which he approaches stone, using surgical instruments that emphasize the tactile and sensory aspects of his work. The *non finito* technique lends his creations a timeless aura, while the use of metals such as lead and brass alongside marble highlights the dialogue between the ancient and the contemporary. The result is a body of work characterized by aesthetic and symbolic intensity, where classical fragments are combined with a modern sensibility. Galliani has exhibited in Italy and abroad in cities such as London, Barcelona, Istanbul, and Shanghai. Among his most significant achievements is his participation in the Pavilion of the Republic of San Marino at the 2022 Venice Biennale, held at Palazzo Donà dalle Rose, with the project *Il Giardino Imperfetto*, curated by Professor Pasquale Lettieri. He also took part in the Rome Quadriennale in 2004 and the Monza Biennale Giovani in 2005. In 2008, he received the Fabbri Prize in Bologna, and in 2019, he was awarded the prestigious Franco Cuomo International Prize for his ability to innovate contemporary sculpture. In recent years, Galliani has held several major solo exhibitions, including *Nebula* (2021), hosted in the 18th-century halls of Palazzo del Medico in Carrara, and *Vertigo* (2021) at the Birthplace Museum of Michelangelo Buonarroti in Caprese Michelangelo. His exhibition *Noctilucent* (2023), curated by Lorenzo Belli, was organized at Spazio Cappella Marchi in Seravezza, supported by Galleria Giovanni Bonelli and Terre Medicee. A significant moment in his exhibition career was the show *Sagitta, Ordinario-Uomo-Straordinario* (2024), presented by Studio la Linea Verticale in Bologna as part of the series *Dell’umana dimensione. Arte e visioni contemporanee lungo la Via Emilia*. With a practice that explores the relationship between matter and spirit, Michelangelo Galliani continues to stand out as a key figure in the contemporary art scene. He lives and works in Montecchio Emilia, devoting himself with passion to both sculpture and the training of new generations of artists. For further information, please contact us.
